Research at Applied Geology

Applied Geology is regularly ranked in the top five geoscience research institutions in Australia based on the impact of our research, which is supported by world-class facilities and equipment, and funded from a range of government and industry grants.

Research at Exploration Geophysics

Our academic staff and postgraduate students are continuously involved in frontier scientific research in the field of Exploration Geophysics. We are involved in emerging technologies relating to geophysical data acquisition, instrumentation and advanced software modelling.

Research at Metallurgical and Minerals Engineering

Metallurgy research at WASM covers the main areas of mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, and pyrometallurgy. The department has a growing group of postgraduate researches at the Kalgoorlie campus where Gold and Nickel research is emphasised.

Research at Mining Engineering

WASM Mining Engineering Department has a long history of recognition as the leader in applied mining research. The department has worldwide recognised research teams and facilities within the area of Rock Mechanics, Mine Road Design and Management, Mine Planning and Design, Remote Inspection and Surveying at the Kalgoorlie Campus.

Research at Spatial Science

The Department of Spatial Sciences is an acknowledged leader for research of international significance in the areas of geodesy, laser scanning and digital imaging, geographic information science (GIScience) and remote sensing and has a number of internationally experienced staff with a range of expertise in these and other areas.
